Here it is Wilcoxon #133 in all it's glory! MM is about 60 to the dotted 1/4.
I tried playing this piece with the metronome and playing the BD on the dotted 1/4 but I had an issue locking in with the beat. I couldn't tell if I was not locking in or if I couldn't hear the metronome loud enough to lock in. So I just free styled it.
I think it took me longer to edite everything then it did to learn the piece.🤷♂️

Here is my version of Wilcoxon’s 132nd as of now. I’m playing along to John through my in-ears, from the 08/22 masterclass recording at 75% speed, around the 19min. mark.
I’m trying to maintain a steady left-foot pulse, with bass drum on 2 and 4, which has become my go-to. I’m still pretty green and have plenty to work on, particularly maintaining the foot ostinato while keeping the ghost notes low, especially following accents.
Sorry for the audio — it was recorded through my webcam/zoom. I actually have mics and DAW (Reaper), DaVinci Resolve for video… maybe one day I’ll figure out how to use all of it... I appreciate any feedback.

I really like how you’re putting the Kik on the 2&4. I’m curious at to what’s your thoughts around that as I haven’t seen anyone else doing that?
I can see a lot of virtue in that as it’s going to really drive the feel on the back beat ‘home’ not to mention giving you some serious horsepower while driving a Reggae band!👊🏾
Johnny V uses that sometimes with playing a shuffle. I tried that while a gtr player was doing a solo and man it really opened up the groove and HE loved it!!!

Great job Rizzo. The time was a little shaky at first and in a few spots but you recovered very well and kept it going. That is a skill. Work Just work on consistency of flams and rolls. Some are better than others. Thanks Rizzo.
