Just watched the masterclass from last week …very useful! Question….when you are playing with a jazz/big band is it common or a more musical approach to follow a pattern from another instrument? Watching this made me realize how you could create some color around a common phrasing that goes throughout a song whether it is a horn, piano, or bass line without it sounding repetitive . I hope my question makes sense.
